An Independent Agency Serving Asheville
ALLCHOICE Insurance Asheville, formerly Elite Asheville Insurance, serves Asheville, Buncombe County, and Western North Carolina as an independent agency representing multiple top-rated carriers. Our office sits on Broadway downtown, which means we write a lot of policies for people in the River Arts District, West Asheville, and Montford — and a lot of commercial accounts for the galleries, restaurants, and tourism businesses that define the city.
Because we're independent, we evaluate options across carriers and present what actually fits your situation, rather than selling a single company's product. Most of our work happens by phone, email, and video. The Asheville office is open Monday through Friday, 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Same-day quotes and certificates of insurance are routine. Clients in Hendersonville and the southern mountain area are served from our Hendersonville office.

Asheville's risk profile changed for a lot of homeowners on one night in September 2024. A policy written on pre-Helene assumptions tends to find the gaps at the worst possible moment.
Hurricane Helene (September 2024). The French Broad River exceeded its 100-year flood crest by a wide margin. Biltmore Village submerged under feet of water, the River Arts District was effectively destroyed, and the Swannanoa River corridor saw entire neighborhoods washed off their foundations.
Flooding outside mapped zones. Many Asheville homes outside designated FEMA flood zones flooded anyway during Helene, and only about 1% of Buncombe County structures carried flood insurance beforehand. The pre-Helene assumption that elevation and distance from the river meant safety no longer holds.
Wind and tree damage. Mountain wind events combined with mature tree canopy drive routine claims on roofs, fences, and vehicles, independent of named storms.
Slope and landslide risk. Asheville's hillside development means steep-slope properties carry landslide exposure that a standard policy excludes.
Winter weather. Higher elevation than the Piedmont brings more snow and ice each winter, with associated pipe-freeze and roof-load risk.
